About Me

Hello. My name is Jonathan Sung and I'm from Scotland. I am currently 17 years old and my favourite food is pizza. In my spare time I like to play computer games, write songs and do some computer programming.

I am currently a High School student but after a couple of months I will be going to university. I have been given an offer to study Computer Science at the University of Edinburgh.

Music

I have a strong passion for song writing, ever since the age of 7 I have been playing musical instruments. I started keyboard lessons when I was 8. That was when I was introduced to the fundamentals of music theory. I enjoyed it very much, playing pieces from 'Star Wars' to 'Rock around the Clock'. The keyboard was great but 2 years later I quit the keyboard lessons to further continue my musical studies on a piano. The piano-style of playing introduced me to more complex and independant left hand manoeuvres. I believe learning from a piano teacher enhanced my hand dexterity tremendously. After a few months I was capable of playing two different phrases on each hand simultaneously. I have now achieve a Grade 5 certificate for piano.

During the period I had piano lessons, I was also teaching myself how to play the guitar. I would watch Youtube videos on how to play certain songs and I gradually built up my skills. I was initially quite interested by finger-style guitar playing, but later spread to different styles of playing. I am still working on a better tone but I guess that will come with time and practice. I wrote my first song when I was 14. It was terrible. The shitty lyrics are probably still lurking in a hard drive somewhere in my house. By the age of 15 I saved up some money to purchase decent recording equipment. From there on I was a song writing power house! Only problem was, I was pumping out shit. The musical content was and is still total turd-like. I'm working on it though, and it's kinda getting better. So thats a summary of my musical skills so far, I've still got a long way to go.
